Show Me a Sign.
How many people have you heard use this saying? Asking for some Gods, a Single God, or the Universe, to show them a sign. This practice is not limited to any particular religion or faith. It stretches across the vast empires of humanity, and has perhaps for as long as we have. This makes me wonder if it is something that's burned right into our genetic code, an ingrained instinctive trait perhaps, one that we adopted from our distant forefathers. The why of it does not matter though, whether that is the case, or it is not, there is still a looming question. Would you see a sign if it was right in front of you.
Will people still recognize these signs when it happens to them?
There have been several moments within my own life, that make me truly believe these signs still happen. In fact, it is because of one of these possibly pivotal moments, that I am sitting here writing this article right now. There were several odd instances this morning that kept me from heading into the city to carry out my daily plans. The first of them was minor, almost impossible to see a a sign, a simple traffic incident causing a detour. No problem though, I go around it, and keep on my schedule. Then I get to the store, and try to buy fuel to find that I had no means of paying. All of it was left at home, oops. Still, at this point I'm not seeing it as a problem, or a sign. I texted my wife at that point, and let her know that I would be running just a little late. Then I begin to head back to the house, it will only have set me back enough to make me about 15 minutes late. My wife knows the cashier at the local gas station, and before I made it all the way home, she texts me and tells me that she sent money to the cashier on cash app. So about half way home, I turned around to head back up to the gas station. This is when the signs begin to become apparent. I pull up to the gas station, and the entrance to the parking lot is blocked by a woman who was lost in her cell phone texting, or shopping for a brain. Either way, she sits there in her car while the light changes, and traffic moves. Not her though, she still sits there with her phone on her steering wheel, the turning lane completely blocked. I been my horn, and she looks up. She sees the cars in front of her have driven off, and there is a line forming behind her. At this point I'm thinking to myself, maybe her car just broke down. I open my car door and am about to ask if she needs help, when suddenly she puts down the phone, just as the light turns red again. Then she just runs it, in the process almost hitting a bike riding pedestrian, he begins swearing, and like none of it ever happened, she just drives away. Now I'm over 20 minutes behind, and am becoming a bit aggravated. At this point I'm still not quite registering that this as a sign. It could have been a lack of caffeine, or being distracted by being late, but in a few more minutes, they will all tie together. I make my way into the parking lot, pull up at a gas pump and walk inside. I'm standing there in line with my 6 year old, he's late for school and he knows it. Just as the person in line before us finishes paying we are about to step up to the cashier, and the funniest thing happens. My son looks up at me and says, “Dang, how many things are going to make us late today.” I'm pretty sure he was just hinting to the lady in front of us, that we were late and in a hurry. It has a different effect though, instead it made me look back at the prior 3 odd delays of the morning, and begin to think. Was that a sign? Was this the universe, or the Nornes pushing me away from something? Just as these thoughts cross my mind, I'm stepping up to the counter and the power flashes. The Internet goes down, and within a minute, all of the people who were outside pumping gas are heading back in the store. This is when the cashier tells me and the other customers, that it will probably be about 20 - 30 minutes before all of the systems reset and become functional. Okay… I hear you. I got the signs.
I head back home at that point. My kid is confused, but I tell him he gets to skip school today. That settles his mind, and he doesn't question it further, but the whole time I am still asking myself, what do the Nornes really have planned? What does their tapestry of life look like? Having only happened about a few hours ago, I’m still waiting to see what unfolds. This could even be one of those situations, where it never becomes obvious. Maybe the delays were not driving me towards something, and instead were pushing me away from a life altering event.
The Unknown, and unknowable.
The possibilities are innumerable. Maybe this article itself being written, was the very reason that my whole morning was littered with signs. Perhaps it is “you” who needed to look up, and notice the signs being presented to you. Signs that you would have brushed off, and otherwise ignored, had you not read this article. Perhaps you are at a pivotal moment, and this article is a sign that changes your life in some way. 🤷🏼♂️
Who knows.
So, here it is.
If you are currently weighing a choice, and are looking for a sign as an answer, here you go. Choices will be made this very day, that will affect your life. Just make sure that you are open to receive them. A basic example of this would be, “Don't ask the Gods to let you win the lottery, if you never plan to buy a ticket.”
If you come to a fork in the road, and it is obvious that both paths look wrong, just remember that you can always turn around and head back up the path you came. Those two options, may appear to be the only way forward at the moment. But if you don't look around to check, you will never even know that another path exists.
Base your critical choices around your Family, Community, and Ancestral Tradition. When you are making them, ask yourself if this choice will help your family, or community, or even how your ancestors would have handled it. What would your Grandfather think of your choice, or even ask yourself, “What would they have done in this same type of situation?” Rarely will this have been the wrong choice, when looking back over time. When we are on the correct path, we notice that these pivotal choice moments, seem to happen far more often. There has to be a reason for it, some type of outside intervention. The Christians and Catholics will say things like a Guardian Angel must have saved me, or kept me from heading down a certain path. The Greeks, and Romans attributed it to three ladies referred to as the Fates. The Germanic faiths refer to these powers as the Nornes. No matter what your ancestors called them, they all had some sense of them. Continued… 👇

The Sign You Need.
As humanity grew the things that we needed, and the things that we wanted, were often quite similar. We needed to survive the winter, so we planted extra food crops. We wanted the weather to be just right, so that maybe there would be some extra. It was simple back then. Today however there is a growing void, it is spreading between our wants and our needs. The things we want today, are often so far outside of being what we actually need, that I feel like my grandparents would be pissed off, if they currently saw the state of things. If we were asking for signs now, and they were the ones responsible for giving them to us, would they just laugh and walk away.
Just in case you needed one. #HereIsYourSign
